The Ultimate Update Cont.

I was having problems with the last post so I decided just to make a continuation. Make sure to read the last one first!

The laundry. I am not a fan of the stackables. They definitely take up less room, but I feel like I do laundry foooreeevverrr. You have to do twice as many loads since it doesn't hold as much.

I also had a request to include a few of my latest craftings (I'm pretty sure I just made up that word).I made this pot holder for a friend's birthday.
I got these salt and pepper shakers at Ikea for pretty cheap a while ago. They were okay, but I wasn't digging the egg shape. Nor did the yellow really go with any color scheme I had going on in the kitchen. So I sanded the paint off the shakers, (which was a lot easier than repainting them like I thought I was going to have to do), and spray painted the dish black. I already had the black paint too, which means this little project was freeee. Here is the end product:
I think eventually I might do a S and P on them, but I don't know. I kind of like the clean look of just white...

The Ultimate Update

Confession: I have not blogged in a long time. As is obvious. Therefore I am going to use this post as an ultimate super-duper update to our lives since moving to Aurora. I am also going to include pictures of our apartment so that those family members and friends who have not had the opportunity to come visit will not be missing out.

August-October consisted of living with the oh-so-gracious in-laws. Sean went through his academy, and I got to babysit the cutest niece and nephew who have ever lived (so far). In October, Sean started his real job, and I got a job at the hospital here, a convenient 10 minute drive away. We moved into our own apartment, and (re)realized how much stuff we have.

October-now consisted getting involved in our ward, getting to know new people and making new friends. I've been called to the nursery and as the ward Girls Camp director. Sean has avoided being called to anything. We love our ward and are glad there are many couples are same age and life circumstances.

Now for the apartment!

The first view when you walk in the door. Granted, it is not so close to the door. Also, the Fleur-de-lis on the second shelf from the top right, I got for $.97 from Ross because it was broken. But after a coat of black spray paint, you barely even notice.

This is our loft. It adds a lot of space to the apartment, however the narrowness of it is almost impractical. The other side of the loft.A view from the top of the stairs. That buffet looks really small but it's actually quite a bit larger and helps a lot with storage.

The kitchen. My favorite part- the dishwasher!The dining room. Recently redecorated. The tablecloth, place mats, and napkins are all new, and were all on sale!
This picture I included for comic relief. They recently installed this carbon monoxide alarm (which was suppose to have been installed long before we moved in...). However, what kinda idiot installs it on the wall, plain view, at eye level in the dining room? Wouldn't the ceiling have sufficed?This is the master bath vanity. It's really nice having a bathroom attached to your room I've decided.The camera stopped wanting to work so all the rest of the pictures are kinda dark. Here is our bed with our lovely photo montage. At least I think it's lovely.The corner of the room. With a door to the balcony, which I did not take a picture of because it's kinda lame. Also it is not private, which is super lame. We keep our bbq grill out there (actually I haven't checked to see if it is still there in awhile so it may not be...) and it has been moved around without our help. Also, ignore Sean's gun cleaning mess. I don't touch it. I may get in trouble. Our wimpy walk-in closet. Tooooo small. But it's a walk-in so I shouldn't complain.

Fall is here!

We have been in Colorado for 2 months now. It's crazy to think that that much time has actually passed! We've had a lot of fun being with family, enjoying the last of our summer, and getting ready for the fall which has come so quickly! We just signed a lease for an apartment, but due to some issues, have not moved in. We're planning on doing most of that tomorrow, but probably won't get to it all.

Sean is loving his job and is going to graduate from his training next Friday. He's learned a lot and has gotten really buff:) He's got a lot of cool new gear and probably needs more ( I never knew how much those guys can fit on their belts!).

I am starting my new job as a Patient Care Tech on Monday at the Medical Center of Aurora in the float pool. I'm excited to start working and get experience! I have had a lot of fun babysitting my niece and nephew in the meantime and will miss spending so much time with them! I've also gotten the stomach flu twice (or maybe I just never really got rid of it) in the last 2 weeks and may have passed it on to Sean.

We are missing our friends and family in Utah all the time!

2 weeks tomorrow!

We're quickly approaching the move date! It's officially August 13th, and we're starting to get really excited and stressed about this big move! We've been packing little by little, and have had several people come look at our apartment. Which, moving and keeping the house in tip-top shape for visitors is a chore!

One thing that has lowered our stress (as of yesterday) is Sean got the job at the *if you want to know ask*! This is a huge blessing for us, we'll get benefits and a comfortable income! Not to mention it will be a great experience for Sean (although I think he's most excited for being able to buy another gun). Of course I should mention this is just a conditional offer of employment. He still has to take one more psychological evaluation and a medical exam, but we're pretty sure he'll pass both. We are really grateful for all our friends and family who have been praying that he'd get this job! Thank you!

We've yet to settle on an apartment in Colorado, so if anyone knows of any 2+ bedroom apartments/condos/townhomes or even houses that are relatively cheap and in the Centennial/Parker/Englewood/Aurora/Denver area, let us know! I'm still in search of a job and am trying to get my CNA license endorsed by Colorado so it might be a few weeks before I'm able to apply any where.

In the meantime, we're still just working and packing. We're also trying to sell a few of our old things. So if anyone is interested in a desk, a desk chair, a snowboard, a microwave, or a washer here in Provo, let me know!

Summer's here!

We've got our fair share of sunburns (on my end) and lots of playing and picnicking outside, and so of course since summer has started, the blogging has come to an almost complete halt. Not that my blogging was ever consistent before. But I just thought I'd catch the world up on our family. First things first, I graduated!
I would consider that a big feat! It also seems like this happened a looong time ago. This summer is going by so quickly! We went to Washington to visit family, and also went to Zion's National Park and hiked a lot.


We've since been busy working, and I just finished taking a Certified Nurses Assistant course, and am just waiting on the results of my test! (Which is probably the worst part).

We're also preparing to move to Aurora, Colorado in a few weeks, and are hoping Sean gets a job with the Arapahoe County Sheriff's office as a Detention Deputy. He's still in the testing process and any prayers for him to get this job are much appreciated! He's made it through one test, one interview, one psychological evaluation, one polygraph test, and the background check, and he has a phone interview on Thursday and still has a few more to go. We are hoping to know soon! We're excited for this new chapter and adventure in our lives, but will miss all the friends and family we're leaving behind in Utah.
