July

I think it is easier just to write once a month and catch up, than it is to remember to write more often.

July was a busy month for us! We started out the month by going camping with our friends Derek and Carly. I'm not sure why, but I don't have a lot of pictures from the trip. Even though we couldn't have a fire (because of the fire ban), it was still a lot of fun. We went on a hike around the lake, and by the end, Abigail was very tired.
This was her at the beginning of the hike.

and this is her at the end.

Sunset at the end of our hike.

She's getting better at making messes. Either that or I'm getting used to just letting her make a mess.

She likes to read books. She learned how to flip the pages by herself. By the way, look how tan she is! She definitely got her dad's olive skin.

She got some new blocks and thinks it's fun to knock them over. She also has long enough hair for a ponytail! (I had already taken out the rubber band if you're thinking it looks funny). and look at those teeth! Her top two are starting to come in, too.

She's (usually) a happy baby!

I love these blocks. There's a house block, a barn block, a fence, playground, silo, and the letter blocks all have farm animals or farm related things on them.

The month of June

is already (almost) gone. Where in the world did it go? Today Abigail had a 9 month check up. She was in the 20th percentile for weight (17 lbs, 1.5 oz), and 48th percentile in height (27.5"), for her age. Not adjusted! At her 6 month appointment, she was barely even on the charts for her age. She's growing like a weed! In fact we're going to have to get a new car seat soon since she's barely under the limit for height for her infant car seat.

We've been awfully busy this month, too. We went on Abigail's first hike to Garden of the God's. Thank goodness we did because now it's so close to the fire! This is where we picnicked.

We also took Abigail to the park to swing,

and took her swimming for the first time.

She loved the swinging, but she did not love the pool. One of the biggest changes for us this month was Abby learning how to crawl. Or army crawl, but either way it makes her mobile!

This is what happened yesterday after I quickly sent an email. Can you see her?

She crawled all the way down the hall into her bedroom, just for a teddy bear:)

She learned how to shake her head "no".

She also had 2 teeth pop out! You can kind of see them in this picture.

and lastly, here is a kiss from Abigail for reading!

Recently...

We were lucky enough to have grandma come visit! (Somehow I didn't get any pictures though...) Abigail loved playing with her, and I loved getting to sleep in:)  Here are some recent pictures of Abby that are pretty cute, though!

Yum, sweet potatoes

This girl sleeps like her daddy

This is her favorite blankey

Chicken 'n rice in the hair! That's the natural place for it to go after all...

She loves making messes!

and loves baths!

She gets really excited when she sees the camera

and this is her with her blanket. Usually when I give it to her she rubs her face in it. Also when I lay her in bed with it she lifts her feet up and pulls it over her head, almost like a fort:) What a cute girl! We really enjoy watching her grow and learn!

Birth Announcement

I made and printed Abigail's birth announcements, but never sent them out because I didn't have the right size envelope, and going anywhere with her and her oxygen tank when she got home was a task, so... unfortunately, it got moved to the bottom of the list.. and stayed there. But here it is!

Also, look how little she is! This was a few days after we brought her home.

Bringing you up to date

Now the more up to date news, Abigail is sitting up. Really, it makes me cringe because it means she'll soon be mobile, but I'm excited and glad for her development! She's also starting to eat baby food and so far, likes peaches, bananas, and sweet potatoes. Of course I started with the more yummy things. We've also (finally) transitioned to 3 naps. Sometimes that ends up being 2. Either way it is better than 4 or 5 1 hour naps!
Abigail loves to read books, and slobber on them.

This is her during a nap. Don't worry, the blanket has lots of holes and is very breathable!

Sitting up!

She can sit up for a few minutes at a time now.

This was when she had just started eating oatmeal.
